Armin Shimerman (born November 5, 1949)[1] is a a teacher, author and a voice actor for Regular Show.[2][3]

Early life and career

He was born in Lakewood, New Jersey, the son of immigrant parents Herbert, a house painter, and Susan, an accountant.[4] He and his family moved to Los Angeles, California when he was 16 years old. In an effort to have her son make friends, his mother enrolled him in a drama group.[1][2] After graduating from the University of Los Angeles, he appeared on Broadway in Threepenny Opera, a musical, as a member of the ensemble, for 8 months. He then acted in the play Saint Joan as Baudricourt's Steward for 2 months. Finally, he was in the musical I Remember Mama as Mr. Thorkleson for 3 months.[5] He has portrayed Ferengi Letek beginning in Star Trek: The Next Generation and in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, as well as appearing on L.A. Law, Seinfeld, Married... with Children, The Practice, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Boston Legal.[2][6][7] He has also provided the voice of General Skarr in The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy and Evil Con Carne.[3]

Personal life

When not acting Shimerman teaches at the High School of Performing Arts and his alma mater, the University of Los Angeles.[2] He has also authored three books: The Merchant Prince, and has made two Star Trek novels: Wheels within Wheels and The 34th Rule.[2] Shimerman is Jewish.[1] He has been married to actress Kitty Swink since May 1981.[1][4] They reside in an undisclosed location.
