"Benson's Car" is the third episode in Season 5 (and one hundred-nineteenth episode overall) of Regular Show. It first aired on September 9, 2013.

Synopsis

The guys try to fix a broken window in Benson's car.

Plot

The episode begins with Mordecai and Rigby watching a movie. Rigby asks Mordecai to pause the movie, so he can gets chips. Mordecai refuses, claiming that Rigby just had some. They start fighting each other for the remote, and Mordecai slips and falls over, dropping the remote out the window. They look outside to see that the remote smashed through the front window of Benson's car.

They try to look for the car keys so that they can drive Benson's car to the repair shop. While Mordecai distracts Benson, Rigby takes the keys from his coat pocket. They drive to a repair shop, and Rigby asks if the car can get fixed for $65 (rather than $300). The mechanic refuses, and kicks them out.

Mordecai and Rigby drive back to the park, and hide the car behind bushes so they can think of a plan, while Benson calls the police to see who stole his car. Rigby suggests to ditch the car, saying they will be off the hook, but Mordecai says they shouldn't, since Benson is too angry about losing it. Man suggests a guy that can fix it.

Meanwhile, Benson hires Bring 'em Back Jack, a bounty hunter from the future to hunt down the guys who stole his car. Jack says that he is allowed to do whatever he wants to the culprits because violence is outlawed in the future. Jack demands $500,000, but Benson gives him a $500 coupon that was given to him by Jack in the first place.

Mordecai and Rigby drive out into a seedy part of town where they meet a man named Armand, who can fix the car for $60, and asks Mordecai and Rigby to give him an hour. Meanwhile, Jack asks the mechanic that Mordecai and Rigby originally went to discover how they look, and uses V.I.C.K.I., his gun to identify and locate them.

Jack, tracks down Mordecai and Rigby when they get back to the park, where they run into Benson and try to explain that it was all an accident and they attempted to get it fixed. Jack catches up to them and Benson tries to explain that the people who damaged his car are his employees, so he shouldn't shoot them. Jack appears to shut down his arm cannon, but takes a shot at Mordecai and Rigby.  Benson saves their lives by pushing them out of the way, but it gets his car completely destroyed in the process.

Benson gets angry at Mordecai and Rigby for damaging his car and the house, and tells them that they're paying for his bus fare for the next month. Mordecai and Rigby start cleaning up the mess, and find a completely intact windshield. Muscle Man walks by, telling them that the repair man he recommended was good.

Trivia

  • The gun used by Jack bears a striking resemblance to the ZF-1 from the cult classic The Fifth Element.
  • Thomas is seen wearing his pizza costume even though he first wore it in Terror Tales of the Park III, however these episodes were aired out of production order so that episode may have taken place before this one.[1]
  • It was shown in this episode that on the back of Thomas's Pizza Costume, there was no cheese and pepperoni. However, in the episodes Terror Tales of the Park III and The Thanksgiving Special, it was shown that it did.
  • There was originally a scene in the middle of the episode where Benson saw that it was a nice day outside and wanted to eat his lunch in his car only to find out it was missing. It was cut due to time.[2]
  • Bring 'em Back Jack bears a strong resemblance to Duane "Dog" Chapman from the reality TV series Dog the Bounty Hunter. This is supported by Jack's occupation also being a bounty hunter.
  • A running gag in the series is Benson's car being damaged or even destroyed, but this is the only episode to have the plot revolve around it.
