"Big Winner" is the twentieth episode in Season Three (and sixtieth episode overall) of Regular Show. It first aired on April 2, 2012.

Synopsis[]

Mordecai and Rigby prank Muscle Man on his birthday with a fake lottery ticket, but they regret it when he takes it literally.

Plot[]

After being pranked by Muscle Man on several occasions, Mordecai and Rigby are tired of being pranked and decide to get back at Muscle Man by giving him a fake winning lottery ticket for his birthday. Muscle Man is initially unappreciative of the ticket, but quickly becomes ecstatic when he believes that he won, running around the park.

Mordecai and Rigby are amused at Muscle Man's reaction, until Skips reveals what had happened the last time someone had pranked Muscle Man with money. A few years ago, at a park raffle, a man named Biggs had called out Muscle Man's ticket number as the winning one, but then changed it by saying it was the one directly below his number, pranking him. Muscle Man was unamused by the prank, and "returned the favor" because "one good prank deserves another". What had happened to Biggs is unknown, but Skips still advises the two to be careful, since he likes them and didn't really like Biggs. Mordecai and Rigby believe that if they told Muscle Man the truth, he would hurt them physically. Mordecai and Rigby quickly decide that they have to tell Muscle Man that the ticket is fake, before it's too late.

Meanwhile, Muscle Man begins to trash The Park for "remodeling" since he thinks he could buy everything with his apparent money to replace whatever had been damaged, much to Benson's chagrin, who threatens to fire Mordecai and Rigby, if they don't tell him the truth. Mordecai and Rigby decide that telling the truth would be safe when Muscle Man is in a good mood, so he won't likely get so angry, so they take Muscle Man to Wing Kingdom. At the restaurant, Mordecai and Rigby chicken out whilst Muscle Man spends his apparent money, on loads of chicken wings and sauces in diamond encrusted containers. Muscle Man then continues spending his apparent money on more wings and smashes a table since he believes he can pay for it anyway. Mordecai and Rigby retreat to the restaurant bathroom and play Rock, Paper, Scissors to see who will be the one to tell Muscle Man the truth. Mordecai loses and must be the one to tell Muscle Man the truth.

When they exit the bathroom, they discover that Muscle Man has left for the lottery plash to cash in the ticket. Once they arrive, Mordecai finally tells Muscle Man the truth about the ticket being a fake, and at that point, an enraged Muscle Man attacks the duo just like he was seen doing to the two in their first fantasy: stuffing them in the machine, and then hurling the machine, over the wall, resulting in an explosion. But, this was then seen to be another fantasy, to which Mordecai tries to tell him the truth, but chickens out, again. Muscle Man then inserts the ticket into the ticket machine, which says it is not valid, making Muscle Man believe that he is being cheated. He aggressively attacks the machine, destroying it in the process. A Swat Team suddenly appear to fight with Muscle Man for his vandalism, but, Muscle Man does surprisingly good, managing to overpower the first free guards and then attempts to take out several waves of backup team members. In the midst of the battle, Mordecai and Rigby pluck up courage and tell Muscle Man the truth for real, apologize to him, and explain everything. Seeing that his ticket was actually from a company called Joke's On You! Inc., Muscle Man is put in a state of surprise and disbelief, before being knocked out by a team member.

After the incident, a representative of the Prank Tickets Division of the Lottery Customer Service reveals that they had been attempting to recall the tickets for several months and would pay for damages to lottery property and personnel, but would not cover the damage at the park, as it's a violation of a "contract" he has shown to Mordecai, Rigby and Muscle Man. As Muscle Man (now bandaged on the side of his head from his past injury) drives Mordecai and Rigby home from the Lottery Customer Service building, they apologize to him and offer to help him pay for the wings, at least. Muscle Man accepts their apology, says that he can pay for the wings, himself and brushes the prank off, saying "a good prank is a good prank". Mordecai and Rigby are relieved, until Muscle Man asks about their health insurance and comments that they will "need full coverage when he pranks them back."
