Chord Overstreet (born February 17, 1989)[1] is an actor, singer and a voice actor for Regular Show.[1]

Early life[]

He was born on February 17, 1989 in Nashville, Tennessee, to his parents, Paul, a country singer-songwriter, and Julie (née Miller) Overstreet, a makeup artist.[1][2] Being the third of six children, he was named "Chord" as there are three notes in a chord.[1] At 4 years old he played mandolin onstage at one of his father's concerts.[1] He and his siblings grew up on a farm.[3][4] He is of mixed heritage, being of German, Irish, English and Native American descent.[3] As a teenager, he modeled for Gap and Famous Footwear.[1]

Career[]

He made his film debut in 2009 in the thriller The Hole and made his television debut the same year on an episode of iCarly.[1] He has also appeared on the web series Private.[1] He is known for portraying transfer student Sam Evans on Glee.[5] He has been nominated for two Screen Actors Guild Awards in the category of "Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series" in 2011 and 2012.[1]

Personal life[]

His father, Paul, was previously married to Freida Parton, Dolly Parton's sister.[1] Overstreet has four sisters and one brother, his sisters being Summer, Charity, Skye and Harmony, and his brother being Nash, who is the lead guitarist in the rock band Hot Chelle Rae.[1] He also dated Emma Roberts.[1] Overstreet knows how to play the following instruments: the mandolin, piano, guitar, bass and drums.[5]
