Colonel Rawls is a recurring character on Regular Show. He is the commanding officer in charge of the Space Tree Station with Chance Sureshot, Toothpick Sally, Recap Robot, and later the Park crew working under him. During the Space Escape, Rawls sacrifices himself to buy time for the Park Crew to escape from Anti-Pops and his army, while the explosion of the Space Tree Station resulted in his (presumed) death.

Biography[]

Meeting Park Employees[]

Rawls first appeared in Welcome to Space, where he furiously insults and chastises Chance Sureshot for not coming for the Park Crew sooner when they were attacked by Cool Bro Bots and ordered him thousand push-ups. He is later seen getting frustrated with Benson for stubbornly refusing to volunteer to stay in the Space. In the end, Benson finally gives in and stays in Space (after seeing a holo simulator of himself in the dark future).

Death[]

During the graduation, he wished his graduate students the best of their luck. Later, when Mordecai and Rigby returned and informed Rawls about their encounter with Anti-Pops, Rawls was alarmed when Anti-Pops arrived with his army for Pops and ordered everyone to evacuate.

When Anti-Pops telekinetically lifted Rawls and demanded information of Pops’ whereabouts, Rawls lied that he doesn’t know. Knowing he’s lying, Anti-Pops strangled him and Rawls told Anti-Pops that Pops is on his way. When Rawls stalls some time, Pops distracted Anti-Pops and saved everyone, including Rawls, who, at first maddened that they have disobeyed him, thanks Pops for saving them. Just then, Rawls ordered everyone to evacuate and warp out of this system as fast as they can.

Amidst the chaos, Rawls runs and uses his push-up move to hold the door open, allowing the Park Crew to escape. Rawls told them to go immediately, believing that he’s beyond saving, much to the protests of both Rigby and Benson. While Rawls gives enough time for the Park Crew to escape and salutes them farewell and good luck, he succumbs to the weight of the closing doors and (presumably) died after the Space Tree Station exploded, courtesy of Anti-Pops’ army.

Legacy[]

Despite his death, Rawls’ sacrifice had not been in vain, because his actions saved Pops and thus, it allowed Pops to train with Earl and eventually Rawls was avenged when Pops saved the entire universe from Anti-Pops, whom he took with him to the Sun and both of them died together.

Appearance[]

Rawls is a human black male. He has short, dark curly hair. He wears a uniform with torn sleeves, showing his muscles. His uniform sports many ribbons and epaulets that he earned. He also wears a wristwatch on his left wrist.

Personality[]

As commander, Rawls makes sure the Space Tree is run according to plan, and is strict if necessary. He often resorts to hazing when unsatisfied with the work of his cadets, making them do push-ups.

Rawls also showed a braver and defiant side of himself, when it comes to facing Anti-Pops and his army. He even showed his selfless side, after he was even willing to risk his own life to allow Park Crew to escape, while he stays, believing that he’s beyond saving, and salutes to his crew before leaving.

Trivia[]

  • As of the episode "Space Escape", he is presumably "killed" by Anti-Pops. If Space Tree Station was destroyed in the explosion at the end of the episode, he was killed in the blast.
