"Guys Night 2"
"Gary's Synthesizer" is the twenty third episode of Season 7 of Regular Show (and two hundred and fourth overall) It was made available on The Cartoon Network app on February 27, 2016 and it aired on TV on April 2, 2016.
Mordecai and Rigby unplug some cables in an old synthesizer, and they have to travel to the planet of Synthos in order to re-connect them and bring Gary back to life.
Mordecai and Rigby are helping Skips clean out his garage. While Skips is on the phone, he informs Gary that he can't hang out for the time being despite Gary insisting on joining him and the Guardians of Eternal Youth.
As Mordecai and Rigby are cleaning, they come across an old synthesizer with cables and a note that says "DO NOT TOUCH". Rigby ignores the sign and Mordecai's warnings and messes around with the cables on the synthesizer; naturally, Mordecai joins in. Skips catches them in the act and immediately tells them both to stop, as the synthesizer belongs to Gary.
Just then, Gary's El Camino crashes in Skip's yard, and the Guardians inform them that Gary had disappeared while on the phone with Skips. The Guardians realize that Mordecai and Rigby messed with the synthesizer (the cables were plugged into a certain patch that provides Gary's physical form). With Gary no longer able to exist physically until the wires are put back into their proper places, Mordecai and Rigby try to fix it, only to emit a loud, screeching high-pitched noise. The Guardians angrily inform the two that they must travel to Gary's home in Synthos to bring him back. They immediately send the duo along with Skips to Synthos.
Upon arriving to Synthos the trio are greeted by David, the king of Synthos. As they travel to David's office to recreate Gary's patch, David introduces them to his planet, where the "Synthezens" play in perfect harmony. When two guys (Keith and Robert) play a tune and end on a unresolved 7th (a discord), David and his event security bot immediately arrest them since it's impossible to turn that into a harmonius sound.
They then make it to the palace, where David informs them of all of Synthos's past rulers on display, which lead up to him (the hologram of the ruler before him is "out of order"). Once everyone is in David's office, he begins to help them restore the patch. Since they don't know anything about the patch or the waveforms, Skips shows David a photo of Gary. Upon seeing the picture, David locks up Mordecai, Rigby, Skips, and the synthesizer in a glass cell with the two from before. David then explains that Gary is a wanted criminal in Synthos and that they're criminals for being associated with Gary. He then informs them that they will be launched straight into their sun.
Just before they are sent into the sun, Rigby and Mordecai recreate the screeching noise they made earlier to destroy the glass and break free; the result this time projects Gary's image out in the open for the Synthezens. At that moment, the Synthos people recognize Gary, and Keith and Robert explain that Gary is not a criminal, but the rightful King of Synthos. It turns out that when Gary disappeared 200 years ago, David seized control and outlawed all challenging music. The people of Synthos had been waiting for Gary to return and restore their music to its former glory. Mordecai and Rigby then see the hologram that Keith and Robert are projecting and discover Gary's patch to restore him.
Just then, David finds out about this and sends his security bots towards them. Mordecai and Rigby work on fixing the patch while Skips fights off David's goons. They eventually get it, and Gary appears right in front of everyone, much to their excitement.

- Gary's synthesizer closely resembles the analog synthesizer designed by Robert Moog in the 1960s.
