Mitsuru Shinehara is a character and main antagonist of the episode, "Fool Me Twice".

History[]

He hosts the Japanese game show, "Fool Me Once, Shame on You. Fool Me Twice, I Punch Your Face". In the show, there is a game called "Baka Blitz", which is an obstacle course and the competitor has to make it to the prize box in 10 minutes but if the competitor fails to make it to the other side in the time zone or they forfeit, he will punch them. When Mordecai, Rigby, and Benson were at the last obstacle, Mitsuru came and tried to punch them but they fooled him for a third time and he punched himself as he fell into the lava pit. It is revealed that if he doesn't punch a face for a long time, his hand will grow and starts punching people by itself.

Appearance[]

He wears a charcoal suit, a purple tie, and a red cape. He also has long black hair.

Trivia[]

  • It is revealed that he hates being fooled.
  • His punches are lethal, except for one person who lived, but his face is forever disfigured.
  • When he doesn't punch for a long time, his hand will grow.
  • He appears to have the ability to stretch his arm long distances, when his hand has not punched someone for an extended amount of time.
  • His superhuman abilities are perhaps a reference to the protagonist of the manga/anime One Piece, Monkey D. Luffy, whose body can stretch like rubber. Mitsuru's punch resembles one of Luffy's attacks, "Gomu Gomu no Gigant Pistol." This involves Luffy inflating his fist, using a technique called "Gear Third," and delivering a massive, stretchy punch to his enemy.
  • In the credits, he is referred to as "Game Master".
  • The red cape evokes Tetsuo Shima from the classic anime, Akira. It is also possible that the hand growing to monstrous size also reference Tetsuo.
  • Mitsuru if written like 満 means "fulfill, satisfy" which refers to Mitsuru feeling satisfied after punching someone in the face. If it's written like 暢, it means "stretch" which refers to his ability to stretch his arms in order to punch someone.
  • The first part of his last name Shinehara, ("Shine" 死ね, which means "die"), may refer to the fact that he kills the majority of the contestants on his game show.
