Synopsis[]

Benson purchases a surveillance system for the park to prevent Mordecai and Rigby from slacking off.

Plot[]

Mordecai and Rigby are having a staring contest when they're supposed to be washing the Park's truck, and Rigby tries desperately to get Mordecai to blink, even using a red laser pointer. Mordecai claims that's not fair but Rigby defends "Street rules, man!" Benson sees what they're doing and yells at them to get back to work; but Benson turns his back for two seconds and Mordecai and Rigby are back to their game. Benson gets frustrated, and then he sees a television commercial about security surveillance systems to keep slacking employees in check; inspired by this, he orders "level 1 or Mooch Masher" from the system, Peeps. He places a camera in front of Mordecai and Rigby to keep them working; yet, soon they try but fail to trick Benson by placing an unconvincing drawing of them working on the lens so they can continue their staring contest. This gets Benson to purchase "level 2/Slack Pack", by making Mordecai and Rigby wear camera packs with wrestlers around them to watch their every move; even so, he humiliates them in front of Margaret during their lunch break.

When Benson and Pops watch Mordecai and Rigby doing dishes, Benson tells him he's been observing them on the monitors for 3 hours straight. Amazed by their effort, Pops convinces Benson they deserve a reward. They go into the kitchen to award them with a pizza coupon, only to find that the dishes aren't done and that the duo had gotten their revenge by turning the cameras toward the TV playing a video of the "1982 Dishwashing Competition" in order to go into their rooms and continue their staring contest. Benson nearly goes off the edge when he gets "level 3/Bum Blitz", where he installs an endless network of cameras everywhere throughout the whole park, effectively rendering privacy non-existent. Mordecai and Rigby know this surveillance thing is getting out of hand and take it upon themselves to kibosh it once and for all. In the middle of the night while Benson is asleep at the monitors, Mordecai and Rigby sneak into his office and pour a thermos of coffee (which they've dubbed "the hacking device") over Benson's system and therefore destroying it. The sound of the keyboard shorting out wakes up Benson and the boys make a break for it. Because of their semi-clean getaway, Benson knows they're behind this and this finally makes Benson reach some point of insanity; he orders the highest upgrade from Peeps, "level 4" (aka. Jeepers Peepers X-Infinity), but the person on the phone tells Benson he has to sign a contract, an angry Benson has one printed and signs it (without reading it) without hesitation. Soon enough, the infinity pack arrives which is a giant, floating, talking eyeball named Peeps. Not only does Peeps watch Mordecai and Rigby and follow them everywhere they go, he also watches Pops taking a shower, Muscle Man and Hi Five Ghost watching monster truck races, Skips working, and even Benson. In short, instead of monitoring everybody to keep them on task (as is the point of the product), Peeps is doing nothing except creeping everybody out beyond any hope of actually being able to do any work. Finally realizing his horrible mistake, Benson tries to get rid of Peeps under the orders of everyone else, but Peeps remains because the contract Benson signed without reading is forever binding, which means Peeps doesn't go anywhere until Benson's death. Hearing this infuriates Benson, who shreds the contract, though Peeps is unturbed because of all the copies he made. Mordecai and Rigby decide to wager Peeps with a staring contest. The stipulations are as follows: if the park wins, then Peeps goes and never comes back. But if Peeps wins, then he will remove everyone's eyeballs and keep them.

Mordecai is chosen as Peeps' opponent, and after two days, Mordecai and Peeps' eyes are tired. Just when it looks like Mordecai will come out the victor, Peeps reveals his ability to produce more eyeballs (which disgusts Benson and makes him almost throw up), most likely obtained from the people who dared challenge him to this kind of combat. The gang denounces Peeps as a cheeter, but he refuses to admit so, reminding everyone that the rule is simply to not blink. All hope seems lost until Rigby comes to the rescue with his laser pointer to burn all of Peeps' many eyes, leaving only his gigantic main eye left. After much anticipation, Peeps blinks, making Mordecai the winner, causing Peeps to be disqualified for his actions. Peeps, in much pain, says "This isn't regulation, you know", then Rigby casually replies "Street rules, man". Before lasering Peeps in his one massive remaining good eye. The laser somehow totally ignites his cornea and he runs into the lake and nearly drowns. With this mess finally settled, the gang has Peeps hauled away in an ambulance and he says "All I see is darkness.", hinting that he can no longer see. The park workers celebrate their victory and Benson promises not to go too far with watching Mordecai and Rigby. When Muscle Man marvels at Mordecai's nigh-superhuman ability to refrain from blinking, he grimly confesses that he can't blink at all anymore, much to everyone's empathy to his pain. He asks for eye drops, which Rigby hands him, but the eye drops evaporate before they touch Mordecai's eyes. Mordecai then ends the episode by telling everyone to take him to the hospital.
