Rock, Paper, Scissors

Rock, Paper, Scissors is a real game played in Regular Show by Mordecai and Rigby.

Rules[]

The game involves 2 players facing against each other which each player simultaneously forming one of three shapes with an outstretched hand. These shapes are "rock" (a closed fist), "paper" (a flat hand), and "scissors" (a fist with the index finger and middle finger extended, forming a V).

Each game has three possible outcomes: a draw, a win or a loss. A player who decides to play rock will beat another player who has chosen scissors ("rock crushes scissors" or "breaks scissors" or sometimes "blunts scissors"), but will lose to one who has played paper ("paper covers rock"); a play of paper will lose to a play of scissors ("scissors cuts paper"). If both players choose the same shape, the game is tied and is usually immediately replayed to break the tie.

Background[]

Pops claims that back in Lolliland that they played it, but by the name of "Quartz, Parchment, Shears".

According to both Benson and Skips, the game is evil and should not be played. True to their word, if the players tie 100 times in a row, a green monster will appear in black hole in an effort to eat the prize that would have gone to the winning player. The monster will disappear if the tie is broker between the two players.

Since then, Mordecai and Rigby often play the game in order to settle disputes such as who does which chore or they play it simply for fun.

Usage[]

In the pilot / "First Day", Mordecai and Rigby played the game to see who will own Pop's discarded chair until they tied 100 times causing a black hole to appear with a green monster residing inside in attempt to eat the chair. Rigby wins when Mordecai purposely throws rock (after telling Rigby he was going to do so) in order to break the tie, causing both the monster and half of the chair to disappear.

In "Rage Against the TV", Mordecai and Rigby played it to see who has to ask Muscle Man for his TV. Mordecai loses, having rock and Rigby having paper. Rigby's streak continued in "Brain Eraser" where he throws paper against Mordecai's rock and has to deliver Pops' "Moustaches Monthly" that they found in the couch, then he wins again in "This Is My Jam", where Rigby got to wear the gloves for throwing scissors against Mordecai's paper beating him.

Rigby's seemingly endless winning streak stops at the episode "A Bunch of Baby Ducks", when Mordecai won twice, once so Rigby would start the hose, a second time so Rigby would sit at the back of the Mother Duck.

In the episode "House Rules", Benson says that it's against the rules to play it. It made an appearance in "Fortune Cookie", where, because of Rigby's good luck, he wins against Muscle Man and Mordecai.the movie
