There is 36 Springfields around the U.S., not just in Massachusetts. So no one knows where the one in The Simsons is, but they DO say that it is called Springfield.
Well, the video game says "Anytown" on a package at the begining, so, maybe that? This could possibly just be a joke towards us fans not knowing the name, lol
We've already had this discussion, and the general consensus is southern California.
Here are the main reasons:
1. The weather is usually sunny
2. The Park is close to the beach
3. The Park is also close to the desert
4. The Park is near a moutain range
5. The Park is also close to the Mexican border
6. Travelling by car on highways often shows large amounts of congestion
7. Many of the people that work on the show are either from California or live in California
8. Accents of characters tend to be consistent with West Coast American
Since toad decided to bring this thread back up after a year, I might about mention that the creator of the simpsons has confirmed the Springfield to be the one in the state of Oregon, because he lived nearby, in Portland.
Okay, i'm not gonna lie, but I think "City" is a really stupid name even by Regular Show standards.
Just my opinion.
Just my opinion.
The same thing with the fact that the park's name is just Park. It's not even spelt The Park?

At least they had the time to insert the word the into it. Way too generic these names.
