Characters

The Story

(Mordecai and Rigby are sleeping in their rooms during the night. Mordecai is dreaming about asking out Margaret at The Coffee Shop.)

Mordecai: Hey, Margaret. I have something to ask you.

Margaret: Okay. What is it?

Mordecai: You want to go to the movies and get dinner later, maybe? Just you and me?

Margaret: Hahaha, No! Of course not!

(Everyone in The Coffee Shop gets up and starts laughing at Mordecai, pointing at him.)

Mordecai: Nooo!!!

(Mordecai wakes up.)

Mordecai Aaaah!!!

(Rigby wakes up as well.)

Rigby: What?! Where?! Did I win?!

Mordecai: Sorry. I had a nightmare.

Rigby: What was it?

Mordecai: I asked Margaret out, and she said no, and then everyone starting laughing at me. It was horrible!

Rigby: It was just a dream dude. Get back to sleep.

(They go back to bed. Montage of Mordecai waking up screaming the next 2 nights after that.) (The following night. Mordecai and Rigby are sleeping in their beds. It's 3:00 in the morning. Mordecai wakes up, screaming.)

Mordecai: AAAAAHHH!!!

(Rigby wakes up too.)

Rigby: Ugh, you had that dream again, didn't you?!

Mordecai: Yes.

Rigby: Dude, that's the (counts to self) 4th night in a row you've had that dream!

Mordecai: I know. It's just...

Rigby: No, I've had enough! Tomorrow I'm taking you to face your fear and get this nightmare thing over with!

Mordecai: You don't mean...

Rigby: Yes I do!

Mordecai: No way! It's just going to be a repeat of what happens in my dream, only for real!

Rigby: Nah. Nothing that happens in nightmares ever happens in real life.

(Cut to Flashback. Rigby is at an amusement park, surrounded by amusement park mascots.)

Rigby: Get away from me you freaks! NOOO!!!!

(End Flashback.)

Rigby: Okay, MOST things that happen in nightmares never happen in real life.

Mordecai: No! I'm too afraid to ask Margaret out!

Rigby: Dude, nothing is going to change if you don't do anything. Remember what Benson said that time you were all depressed because you thought she was getting married!

Mordecai: Ugh, maybe you're right.

Rigby: Of course I'm right. Now just get back to sleep. You can ask her tomorrow.

(The next day. Mordecai and Rigby are standing outside of The House.)

Rigby: This our day off, so might as well ask her now.

Mordecai: Right. I can do this. I can do this. I can do this.

Rigby: Come on. Let's go to The Coffee Shop.

(Mordecai continues to repeat "I can do this" the entire ride there. They both stop near the entrance.)

Mordecai: I can do this.

(Mordecai sees Margaret through the window.)

Mordecai: I can't do this!

Rigby: Yes you can!

(Harrison walks out of the door. He just had breakfast there.)

Harrison: Hey, what's up?

Rigby: I convinced Mordecai to finally try to take Margaret out on a date, and now he's freaking out!

Harrison: Just ask her already! I'm not the one to ask for tips on romance, but I do know that nothing good will come out of just sitting back and admiring at a distance. Just make your move and get it over with.

Mordecai: You're right. Let's see if this works.

(Mordecai heads inside. Harrison and Rigby watch through the window.)

Harrison: 5 dollars that he gets tongue-tied and doesn't do it.

Rigby: You're on.

(Inside The Coffee Shop. Margaret is serving tables.)

Mordecai: Hey Margaret!

Margaret: Hello Mordecai! What is it?

Mordecai: I... uh... um... (he summons his confidence) Do you want to go to dinner and maybe watch a movie tonight? Just you and me?

Margaret: Sure! I have nothing else planned.

Mordecai: Great! We'll meet up outside The Coffee Shop around 5:00.

Margaret: Sounds great!

Mordecai: It's a date then! Bye!

(Harrison and Rigby watch Mordecai head back up towards the entrance.)

Harrison: What? He actually did it!

Rigby: Ugh, here.

(Rigby hands him $5.)

Harrison: Quiet. Here he comes.

(Mordecai comes out the door.)

Mordecai: It worked! I'm finally going on a date with Margaret!

Rigby: Now was that so bad?

Mordecai: You were right, Rigby. Asking her was the best thing to do. Now I need to get ready for my date!

(The three leave and head back to The House. Cut to inside The Coffee Shop. Eileen walks up to Margaret.)

Eileen: Hey Margaret. You want to hang out after work again? I rented this DVD we can both see.

Margaret: Sorry, Eileen. Mordecai just asked me out to the movies and dinner.

Eileen: Oh... Hmm, maybe this is the date with Mordecai you've been wanting.

Margaret (sarcastic): Oh haha!

Eileen: I'm just messing with you. We can get together another time.

Margaret: Sounds good. Don't worry, Eileen. You'll get that date with Rigby you wanted some day too.

(Back at The House. Mordecai is pacing around in the living room, thinking. Rigby is watching.)

Rigby: Dude, you've been pacing around the past 30 minutes. What's on your mind?

Mordecai: I just want this to be the perfect night! I may not get another chance. NOTHING must be allowed to go wrong!

Rigby: You'll do fine! Come on, let's play some video games.

Mordecai: Nah. I'm going up to our room to sort out what I'm going to do.

(Mordecai walks up the steps.)

Rigby: But what am I supposed to do?

(Harrison walks past, heading for the kitchen. He's holding his journal, a new locked clamp keeping it closed to unwanted viewers.)

Rigby: Hey. Do YOU want to play videogames?

Harrison: Last time I played with you you guys almost got all of us killed over a game of paintball. No thanks.

(Harrison leaves as well. Rigby sits on the couch, alone.)

Rigby: Well this sucks.

(Cut to later. It's getting close to 5:00. Mordecai walks down the steps, in his usual appearance.)

Mordecai: I figured it wouldn't matter if I just looked myself.

Rigby: Alright. You go do whatever you have planned with Margaret, and I sit here all night doing nothing.

Mordecai: You can handle one night without your best bud at your side.

(They head out down to the front of the house. Harrison is with them.)

Mordecai: Wish me luck!

(Mordecai gets in the cart and drives away.)

Rigby: Ugh, so bored. Now what am I supposed to do all evening?

Harrison: Have you ever shot cans off of a log with a hunting rifle?

(Cut back to Mordecai. He drives the cart towards the park exit.)

Mordecai: You can do this. You can do this. You can do this.

(Mordecai drives up to The Coffee Shop. Margaret is waiting, wearing the same outfit from Do Me a Solid. Mordecai get out of the cart.)

Mordecai: Hey, Margaret... hehe.

Margaret: Hi! I think it's great that you invited me to spend the evening with you.

Mordecai: Yeah, uh... thanks! I was thinking we can go get dinner and then see a movie. I know a good place to go.

Margaret: Sounds great!

(Mordecai and Margaret get into the cart. They drive away.)

(Cut to the house. Benson is writing things down on a clipboard.)

Benson (to self): Let's see... Everything checks out. Fountain is finally fixed, fields are mowed, just about everything is... what happened to the cart?

(Cut back to Mordecai and Margaret.)

Mordecai: Sorry we're stuck riding in a golf cart. I don't have anything better.

Margaret: I don't mind.

(They drive up to the same restaurant Mordecai met CJ at and head inside. They find a seat and order their food.)

Mordecai: This place has good food. I've been here before.

Margaret: I've been here too.

Mordecai: Really?

Margaret: Yeah. It's a nice change from what they have at The Coffee Shop.

Mordecai: Yeah.

(Their food comes and they start eating.)

(Cut to Harrison and Rigby. They took another cart down to the woods. Harrison sets up empty soda cans on a log and runs over to Rigby.)

Harrison: Alright, it's real simple. Just follow what I do.

(Harrison puts on special ear muffs, aims his hunting rifle, and shoots one of the cans off the log.)

Harrison: You want to try?

Rigby: Sure.

(Rigby takes the rifle and puts on the ear muffs. He fires and gets blown back by the recoil. He hits another can.)

Rigby: That... was... awesome!

Harrison: I knew you'd like it. I'll get more cans.

(Cut back to Mordecai and Margaret.)

Margaret: I'm having a really nice time.

Mordecai: Yeah, hehe.... me too. (thinking) Tell her! Tell her!

(Long, awkward silence.)

Mordecai: So... we're just about finished with dinner. Maybe we can go to the movies now.

Margaret: Sure!

Mordecai: (thinking) I'm such an idiot!

(They get up and leave. They both enter the cart and Mordecai drives to the movie theatre.)

Mordecai: Here we are.

(They both get out and Mordecai orders the tickets. After he's done, they both enter, the sun setting. They sit in their seats at the theatre.)

Margaret: I heard this is a good movie.

Mordecai: Yeah, I heard that too. (Thinking) Come on! Tell her how you feel!

(The movie starts. The lights dim.)

Mordecai (whispering): Ugh, too late.

Margaret: What?

Mordecai: Ugh, nothing! Nothing.

(They start watching the movie. Mordecai stares down at Margaret's hand on the armrest.)

Mordecai: (Thinking) Hold her hand already!

(Mordecai motions to do so, but refrains from doing so.)

(Cut back to Harrison and Rigby.)

Harrison: Alright. 1 shot left. I'll take this one.

(Harrison shoots another can off the log, and a roar is heard from inside the forest.)

Rigby: W-what was that?

(A large bear charges out of the forest, heading straight for them.)

Rigby: Run!

(They both start running.)

Harrison: To the cart!

(Cut to later, back at the theatre. The movie is almost over. Mordecai and Margaret continue watching to the end, and then the lights turn back on and everyone begins to leave.)

Mordecai: That was a good movie, right?

Margaret: yeah, I guess.

(They walk out of the theatre and get into the cart. It's dark by now.)

Margaret: My car is still at The Coffee Shop.

Mordecai: Okay. We'll head there.

(Mordecai drives them to The Coffee Shop and they get out.)

Mordecai: (Thinking) Tell her! Tell her!

Margaret: I had a really great time. Maybe we can do this again some time.

Mordecai: Yeah, hehe... sure.

(Margaret starts to get into her car.)

Mordecai: Margaret! Wait, there's something I have to say. (Thinking) I can do this. I can do this.

Margaret: Yeah?

(Margaret stands in front of him.)

Mordecai: Alright, look. There's something I've been meaning to tell you for a LONG time now.

Margaret: What is it?

Mordecai: The truth is, I've always liked you. I mean, not just as a friend. I like-like you. You learned that when you heard that voice message I accidently sent you, but it's been going on longer than that. Ever since we first met I've been trying to go on a date with you, and never succeeded until now. I remember the times I saw you with your previous boyfriends, and that always got me very jealous. I never had the courage then to ask you out and tell you how I really feel, and I felt bad about myself because of it. And remember that time you thought I was dating CJ? I was only spending time with her to get over depression because I thought you were getting married. Rigby finally convinced me to give it a shot today and ask you out, and things went very well tonight. I really like you and I want to be with you, not just as friends, but as something more. I just need to know one thing. Do you feel the same way about me as I do about you?

(There's a long silence. Margaret smiles, almost tearing up.)

Margaret: Yes. Yes I do!

(Mordecai smiles too.)

Mordecai: So... see you around?

Margaret: Yes. We should do this again another time. Sometime soon.

Mordecai: Sure!

(Margaret gets in her car and drives away. Mordecai gets in the cart and drives back to the house. Another cart is parked in front already, the roof torn off and claw marks on it. Mordecai is too excited to pay attention to it. He enters the front door.)

Mordecai: Hey Rigby! I finally...

(Mordecai sees Rigby laying on the couch, staring up at the ceiling. Harrison is standing in a slouched position by the entrance to the kitchen. Both have claw marks and bruises on them.)

Harrison: Don't ask.

Rigby (staring at the ceiling): I'm terrorfied of bears now.

Harrison: I'm going to call it a night.

(Harrison walks out of the door and leaves. Rigby gets up.)

Rigby: (to self) Ouch. (To Mordecai) So, how did it go? Did you pass out? You passed out, didn't you?!

Mordecai (ignoring the comment): It worked! It actually worked! We had a great night, and I finally told Margaret how I feel, and she said that she likes me back, and wants to arrange another date!

Rigby: good for you, man, but I think I'm going to go to bed a little early tonight.

(Rigby heads up the steps.)

(Cut to later. Mordecai and Rigby are sleeping in their beds. Mordecai starts talking in his sleep.)

Mordecai (sleep talking): I had a great time Margaret. We should go on another date soon.

(Rigby wakes up and starts walking out of the room.)

Rigby: Forget this. I'm sleeping on the couch.

(Rigby exits and slams the door closed. Mordecai wakes up and sits up.)

Mordecai Uh? What?

The End

Promo For Next Fanon

(Mordecai and Rigby are sitting in their usual seats at The Coffee Shop.)

Rigby: No! No way I'm going to waste my time on doing that!

Mordecai: Rigby! Just be cool! I already told Margaret we'll help. She's practically my girlfriend now! I'm got going to let you let her down! Besides, where else do you think you'll get your coffee and sub sandwiches?

Rigby: Ugh, fine, but only for the food.

Mordecai: Are you sure? You'll be helping Eileen too...

Rigby: Stop talking!!!
