"Weekend at Benson's" is the twelfth episode of season three (and fifty-second episode overall) of Regular Show. It first aired on January 16, 2012. The episode title relates to the film "Weekend at Bernie's."

Synopsis

When Mordecai and Rigby accidentally knock Benson unconscious, they try to make it seem like it was a dream by dropping him off at his apartment, but end up taking him to his neighbors party to help him impress her.

Plot

The episode starts with Mordecai and Rigby are on a ladder trying to screw a light bulb to a lamp post. After a few failed attempts at screwing it, Benson gets totally angry that the two cannot get it right for the past hour and decides to do it himself. The duo asks him why he was rushing, and he claims that he has plans for tonight. They sort of make fun of him thinking that he was just a loner that suddenly has a night life, and Benson gets somewhat annoyed. The two started fighting over who made their boss angry, causing the ladder to fall off, knocking Benson unconscious after falling on the ground.

Scared that they will be fired, they decide to bring him to his apartment so he can rest and probably forget about the accident. While riding the cart driven by Mordecai, Benson falls off again due to lack of support. The pair tapes him to the cart seat and places glasses on him to conceal his unconsciousness. Muscle Man suddenly sees them, and they drive away from him afraid that he will find out about Benson's issue. He runs after them and surprisingly catches up. He wants to talk to Benson about a task he did and thanks him for the jazz concert tickets, and Mordecai and Rigby pull it off by making Benson's arms move pretending to acknowledge Muscle Man.

They finally reach Benson's apartment, and when they were about to enter his room, his neighbor Audrey opens her door. She asks him where he's been and tells him that the party started two hours ago and invites him in. Mordecai tries to make an excuse that his boss is exhausted from work and cannot go to the party. Audrey is disappointed as they had it planned two months ago and she hasn't talked to him much after being neighbors for a long time, although she seems to understand him, considering he's a working man. Mordecai feels guilty that Benson's night with Audrey was ruined and feels obliged to bring him to the party. He convinces Rigby that Benson might forget how he got knocked out and just think that he partied too hard, which may get them off the hook. So the three enter Audrey's apartment where a wild party takes place.

Audrey finally sees herself and Benson sitting together and can start a conversation. Mordecai causes Benson's hand to land on hers, thinking that she likes his boss. Audrey smiles, but it has made Chuck, her ex-boyfriend, jealous. He approaches Benson, calling him a jerk-face and loser. Audrey argues that they are no longer together and she can talk to anyone she wants. Chuck starts poking Benson's head, trying to enrage him, which angers Mordecai, who in turn grabs his hand to splash a glass of water all over Chuck. Feeling embarrassed, Chuck challenges Benson to a spice eating contest, thinking that he cannot beat his 'iron stomach.' Mordecai and Rigby accept the challenge on Benson's behalf. He easily wins the contest as he is unconscious. Chuck then offers him a victory drink, which he calls the Mississippi Queen. It is a disgusting mixture of random foods and sauces.

Benson regains consciousness after smelling its strange aroma, then Mordecai and Rigby quickly drag him to the bathroom. Benson feels his stomach ache and his fiery mouth, and immediately drinks water from the sink. He asks how he got to the party, but Rigby spills the beans on how he got knocked out. Benson at first becomes outraged at Mordecai and Rigby, almost firing them, but then less so once he finds out that Audrey is cheering him on. As a result, Benson agrees to drink the Mississippi Queen, on the condition that Mordecai and Rigby drink it too, or be fired. Surprisingly, the drink was not spicy at all, but instead caused wild hallucinations with the drink's eponymous theme playing. The next morning, the three wake up on the ground in front of the house. Benson had it with Mordecai and Rigby and decides to fire them, but when he read a note that was stuck on him, he just asks them to return to work. The note has Audrey's number written on it and asked him to call her.

    • Perhaps intentional. Even though poor Benson is being treated like a doll, it's funny as h***.
