Yuri Lowenthal (born March 5, 1971)[1] is an actor, martial artist, author, painter and a voice actor for Regular Show.[1][2]

Early lifeEdit

He was born in Alliance, Ohio and grew up in Nashville, Tennessee.[1][3] His father was a Foreign service officer.[4] He had a unique childhood, living in the United States, Africa and Europe.[5] He became interested in acting after being cast in a Shakespeare play as a senior in high school.[6] He graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1993, earning a degree in East Asian studies.[4][7] He would then train in theatre and also be a part of the Japanese government for a short time.[4][5] He would later move to New York City to pursue a career in acting, and has recently moved to Los Angeles, California, continuing to act in a variety of ways: in film, television, theatre and voice-over.[5] Because of his eclectic background, he can speak English, Japanese, French and German fluently, and also also trained in martial arts, in addition to Wu Shu Kung Fu.[5]

His first notable role was Pvt. Linus Tabeshaw in the 2002 World War II drama Small Things Remembered.[4] He has provided the voices of Sasuke on Naruto, Prince in Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and Prince of Persia: Two Thrones.[8] On Regular Show, he has voiced Adam in his occasional appearances, among others.[1] In 2007, he was nominated for an American Anime Award for Best Actor for voicing Sasuke on Naruto.[9] His voice acting agency is Abrams Artists Agency.[10] His voice acting pseudonyms include Jimmy Benedict and Sean Roberts.[3][10]

Other venturesEdit

He has also dabbled into other areas of expertise, being an award-winning painter and an author, in addition to screenplays.[5] He co-wrote the book Voice-Over Voice Actor: What It's Like Behind the Mic with his wife, Tara Platt, in 2010.[10] He also has his own production company, Monkey Kingdom Productions, which he runs with his wife.[8]

Personal lifeEdit

He is good friends with fellow voice actor Doug Erholtz.[1][11] In his free time he watches movies, writes and does yoga.[6] He resides in Los Angeles, California with his wife, fellow Regular Show voice actress Tara Platt.[1][5]
